Patio Paradise ~ Building an Outdoor Kitchen
Phase 2 – Selecting Materials & Starting the Building Process
Our second of 3 posts in a series focuses on selecting your preferred materials and getting the building process going, with a simplified step-by-step process to help guide you.
Step 3: Selecting Materials
- Choose Durable Countertop Materials: Select materials like granite, concrete, or stainless steel that can withstand outdoor elements.
- Pick Weather-Resistant Cabinets: Opt for materials like stainless steel, marine-grade polymer, or treated wood for cabinets.
- Decide on Flooring: Choose flooring that is slip-resistant, easy to clean, and complements the overall design (e.g., stone, tile, brick, concrete).
Step 4: Building the Structure
- Construct the Base Frame: Build the frame of the kitchen using materials like brick, stone, wood, or metal. Ensure it’s sturdy enough to support countertops and appliances.
- Install Countertops and Cabinets: Mount countertops and install cabinets according to the design plan. Ensure all surfaces are level and securely fastened.
- Set Up Appliances: Install the grill, refrigerator, sink, and other key appliances. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and have professionals handle gas or electrical connections.
